Charles Nelson’s professional career began with the Exxon Corporation as a Reservoir Engineer at the King Ranch in South Texas. While with Exxon, he held various positions of increasing authority within the company’s Exploration and Production Division.

In 1992, after 18 years with Exxon, he founded his own company, Sarita Energy Resources – a domestic independent oil-and-gas company with the singular objective of developing and enhancing both new and existing oil properties. While still leading Sarita Energy Resources, he opened the doors to Sovereign Royalties in 1998 and Sarita Kansas in 2005.

Charles is a practicing Petroleum Engineer and a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He is a current member of SPE, SPEE, IPAA and TIPRO. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
